Joining The Power Hour this morning Sgt. Joshua Lee (Ret.). After his deployment, Joshua enrolled in the VA system, “just in case.” Six months later, the issues started with a diagnosis of PTSD, Inflammatory Arthritis, and Fibromyalgia. Eventually he was prescribed up to 27 pills a day which included dangerous narcotics, opiates, muscle relaxants, SSRIs, benzodiazepines, along with pills to control all the side effects of those drugs. After experiencing withdrawals for the first time in his life from addictive medication which the industry insists are safe and non-habit forming, his wife urged him to research medical cannabis. On their 15 year anniversary trip to Colorado, he was able to experience life again in a manner denied him for years. Upon arriving home, he took a picture of 9,828 smarties to represent his annual prescriptions from the VA, and posted it alongside a lengthy essay in hopes of starting a conversation with a few friends and family. One viral campaign on Facebook, Imgur, and Reddit later, he was presented an opportunity to change the future of Missouri.
