Al Jazeera – The world will have to confront “another nuclear crisis” if the historic 2015 agreement between Iran and world powers is scrapped, Iran’s deputy foreign minister warned.
 
Syria war: UN calls for end to ‘hell on earth’ violence in eastern Ghouta
Sky News – The United Nations has called for an end to the “hell on earth” violence in Syria after hundreds of civilians were killed in eastern Ghouta.
Residents in the rebel-held area outside Damascus say they are waiting for their “turn to die” after more than 290 people including dozens of children were killed since Sunday.
UN secretary general Antonio Guterres said the Syrian government’s bombing campaign had turned the region into “hell on earth” for civilians.

Student: CNN gave me ‘scripted’ questions
WND – Colton Haab, Junior ROTC students and survivor of school shooting in Parkland, Florida A teen survivor of the tragic Parkland, Florida, school shooting claims he turned down an invitation to participate in a CNN town hall Wednesday evening because the network gave him a list of “scripted questions” to ask.
“I expected to be able to ask my questions and give my opinions on my questions,” Colton Haab, a Junior ROTC student, told WPLG-TV. “CNN had originally asked me to write a speech and questions, and it ended up being all scripted.”

NRA head: Gun control advocates ‘exploiting’ Florida tragedy
BBC – The head of the most powerful gun lobby in the US has accused Democrats and media of “exploiting” a Florida school shooting that left 17 people dead.
Wayne LaPierre said “opportunists” are using the 14 February tragedy to expand gun control and abolish US gun rights.
Mr LaPierre’s comments came during the Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC) in Washington.
 
All of West Virginia’s public schools are closed due to a teacher walk-out over pay
CNN – Public schools across West Virginia are closed Thursday as teachers and other school employees hit the picket lines, demanding higher wages and better benefits.
According to Dale Lee, president of the West Virginia Education Association (WVEA), teachers in all of the state’s 55 counties are participating in the planned two-day walk-out, and a group will march Thursday morning to the capitol building in Charleston.

Rescue workers aid residents during Midwest flooding
The Christian Science Monitor – lkhart, Ind.—Crews used boats to help residents evacuate their homes in northern Indiana after rainstorms sweeping across the Midwest on Wednesday combined with melting snow to flood rivers, roads, and other low-lying areas in several states.
The storm system started pushing heavy rain, snow, and ice into the region this week. The weather has already been blamed for hundreds of car crashes and several fatalities, including a crash that killed four people along a slippery interstate in Nebraska.
About 19 people had been evacuated from homes in Elkhart, where emergency crews used boats and an armored vehicle to respond, Mayor Tim Neese said early Wednesday. Schools were closed in the northern Indiana city because of the flooding, and an emergency shelter was set up, The Elkhart Truth newspaper reported.
